Punjabi Flavor with the Millennial Swag @ Baba Chatkora, Koramangala
Baba Chatkora, a funky and vibrant place serving Punjabi flavor with the millennials swag located at the buzzing street of Koramangala, Bengaluru.
The name gives a chill and binge personality to the place, add the warm hospitality and its an evening well spent. I visited with my husband Nikhil and my sister Vratika who was in town.
Well, when I go to a North Indian place the first thing that pop’s in my head is having a glass of chilled lassi, so we ordered a lassi which came in Matka and looked well curded, so thick that it had to be scooped with a spoon, the sweetness was just about right.
Once we gulped the lassi, we were discussing on what to order when Deepak recommended we ordered their Afghani Chaap. Despite we not liking Chaaps, in general, these turned out to be great.
We also tried Dahi Ke Kebab, Stuffed Mushrooms, and Palak Cheese Dumpling Kebab.
Dahi Ke Kebab had a bit of sourness from the hung curd, seasoned with chili and salt, I think I also tasted a bit of chaat masala. This kebab was nice.
The Palak kabab was uber delicious with a strong flavor of garlic and ginger in it. The oozing cheese melted our hearts and the drizzled spicy garlic sauce complimented the dish very well.
Where the appetizers were worth mentionable the mint chutney was too sour to consume, an improvement in that direction is a must.
Still completely absorbed in the flavourful appetizers we called for Baba Chatkora’s special Kulcha which was served with Chole, Dal Makhni and Onion chutney. The kulcha was crusty, the Dal Makhni was creamy, however, lacked a bit of the essence, the chole was fine could be a bit spicy and seasoned well.
We were completely stuffed by this time, so we ended the dinner with a simple Dal Khichdi and Butter Milk. Dal Khichdi was decent, the Buttermilk was just the way I like it, chilled, refreshing with coriander and the roasted jeera added a character to the drink.
Overall it’s a pretty place with good food, warm hospitality, and a cozy atmosphere.
